WELCOME TO VARESE

Surrounded by numerous lakes of glacial origin, Varese is an attractive and ideal destination for business trips and leisure stays: surrounded by greenery, it is rich in historic villas, enchanting gardens and breathtaking scenery.

Varese is located a few kilometres from Milan, along the road leading to Switzerland. Its favourable geographical position, at the mouth of several Alpine valleys and the two main routes of the Simplon and Gotthard, plus the presence of the intercontinental airport of Malpensa, makes it an easily accessible city. From the 17th century onwards, Varese became to all intents and purposes a tourist destination.

The enchanting beauty of the landscape as well as architectural and artistic marvels were appreciated.

In the 19th century Varese flourished and was enriched with Art Nouveau hotels and villas that contributed to a unique and enchanting landscape.

Moreover, Varese and the entire province were, in the early 20th century, the architectural, artistic, social and cultural centre of the Art Nouveau style.
