The Società Ciclistica Alfredo Binda, a non-profit amateur sports association, was established on January 22, 1929. It all began at the Caffè Sport on Viale Aguggiari in Varese, thanks to the understanding between the great dragger of Varese cycling, Antonio “Togn” Ambrosetti, and three-time World Champion Alfredo Binda. The social colors are white and red, and the jersey bears the name S.C.BINDA – VARESE on the front. The white-and-red team has always garnered the favor of cycling fans in the Varese area so much so that it reached 644 full members in 1939.

Today, it is known in the world of both professional and amateur cycling for the passion of its members and its organisational reliability, so much so that it boasts two World Road Cycling Championships, 1951 and 2008, on its organisers’ palmarès.

The name of S.C. Binda over the years has grown in popularity in the area and enjoys the esteem of national and international institutions.

Since 1929, the S.C. Binda has organised the Tre Valli Varesine, an inline race for professionals in the 1.HC category, included in the UCI Pro Series circuit. The Tre Valli Varesine, whose first edition dates back to 1919, is now in its 103rd year.

The Tre Valli Varesine has been joined since 1967 by the Piccola Tre Valli, junior category, now in its 45th edition.

Since 2016, the Società Ciclistica Alfredo Binda has been organising the Granfondo Tre Valli Varesine, a competition open to all two-wheel enthusiasts, which starts and ends in Varese, crossing the Three Valleys that give its name to the competition reserved for professionals. The great organisational capacity even in this kind of amateur event was rewarded by the UCI with the awarding of the 2018 World Granfondo Championships.
