The Granfondo Tre Valli Varesine is a competitive Gran Fondo event for amateur cyclists. The event comprises three races: CRONOMONDO (22km), MEDIOFONDO (100km) and GRANFONDO (126km).
There will be no dispatch of the jersey and race pack.
Athletes who are in the top 25% of classified athletes per category qualify for the World Granfondo Championships 2024 Aalborg – Denmark. Qualified athletes will receive a confirmation email from UCI to the address provided during registration. The confirmation email contains a link through which they can proceed with their registration for the Granfondo World Championships 2024.
Time trial: Loop route with arrival and departure at the Hippodrome of Varese – Via F. Albani – Starting time h. 15:00. The time interval between the starts of the individual athletes varies depending on the number of participants.
Granfondo and Mediofondo: Road route with arrival and departure in front of the Municipality of Varese – Via Sacco Starting time h. 9:00 a.m., divided into grids by age and gender.
Athletes who wish to do so may delegate a person to collect their bib and race pack by completing the delegation form and attaching the required documents. There is no limit to the number of proxies per individual
At the Varese municipal swimming pool, located at 7 Via E. Copelli, access to showers and changing rooms will be available on Sunday 5/10/2025 from 12 noon to 5 pm.
The start of the 9th Granfondo Tre Valli Varesine, will take place according to the division into grids by age group and gender, see website.
According to the regulations on the official website www.granfondotrevallivaresine.it, in the event of impossibility to participate in the event, the fee will not be refunded or transferred to the next edition. If necessary, by 15/09/2023, it will be possible to transfer the bib number to another athlete.
The camper van parks are as follows: – Via Bertolone, Varese 21100. Free parking area from 8 p.m. to 8 a.m. on weekdays. Totally free on public holidays e.g. Sundays. The parking area is located 500 m from the starting line (Via Sacco) and the race village. – Piazzale Roma, Località Schiranna – Varese 21100.Free parking area 10 minutes by bus from the city centre (Line N). By parking your vehicle free of charge you can get a bus ticket for the city service for only 10 cents, which can be used on the E, P and N lines.
The minimum age to participate in the event is 19 years (born before 30/09/2006), no exceptions are permitted. Cyclists under 19 years of age on the date of the event may not proceed with registration.
Athletes unable to take part in the event may, by 15/09/2023, transfer their bib number to another athlete identified by them. To make the transfer it will be necessary to write an email to gftrevallivaresine@evodata.it, no later than 15/09/2023, communicating the data of the athlete who takes over (name, surname, UCI/ACSI/CSAI licence number).
All regularly registered FCI, ACSI and CSAIN athletes, foreign athletes in regular possession of a UCI licence and national cycling council bodies may take part in the event. For those who do not possess any of the above-mentioned licences, it will be possible to sign up for a one-day membership at the price of EUR 20 at the race village – Giardini Estensi in Varese.
The choice of the Granfondo/Mediofondo route is made during the course of the race at the discretion of the athlete. At km 43 (locality Bosco Valtravaglia), route signs and security personnel on the road will signal the diversions for both routes. The choice of route will be detected by means of a chip as the athlete passes on the detection mat, and the passage time will thus be recorded. For the purpose of qualifying for the World Championships, male categories up to and including Master 6 qualify with the long course. Master 7 and Master 8 qualify with the short course. For the women’s categories qualify for the World Championships with the Granfondo course the categories up to and including Master W4, Medio Fondo the categories from Master W5.
Adhesive bands will be available at the race village for you to stick on your bike, indicating the altimetry of both the Medio Fondo and Gran Fondo routes.
All participants must be in possession of a regular medical certificate of fitness for cycling (yellow sheet issued by the sports physician). Sports medical certificates for the disciplines athletics, duathlon and triathlon or with a qualification other than cycling will not be accepted. If you already have a sports certificate, we recommend that you apply to your sports physician for an addition to your cycling certificate.
The commemorative jersey of the 7th edition of Granfondo Tre Valli Varesine branded GOBIK, exclusive for only those registered by 31/07/2023, will be available for collection at the GOBIK stand located inside the race village – Giardini Estensi in Varese. In order to collect it, it will be necessary to have the tag attached to the envelope containing the race bib.
The rankings will be displayed at the end of the races in the race village, on the scoreboard located in the bib/prizes collection area.
Athletes of foreign nationality are required to present the certificate of practicability for the sport of cycling required by their federation.
